Awesome product - Salon quality styling! January 3, 2009 Maybe I'll eventually add a video review because it is such a great product and a demonstration would be helpful. br /br /My hair is shoulder length and slightly curly. Growing up my hair was very straight, but it changed about 10 years ago to wavy; now I want straight hair! br /br /I've wanted one of these for a while but haven't purchased one myself and waited until Christmas to get one. I was very excited to get this. I took it home Christmas night and turned it on. Within 10 minutes, my hair looked sleek and not frizzy as it can be sometimes. br /br /There are two main things that could be better:br /1. A section that protects your hand from getting caught when you close it around your hair. I don't have huge hands and the side of my hand can get slightly squeezed if you're not careful. Also, the iron can get a little hot even though the outside it plastic. Because the plates get so hot, it carries through if you leave it on long enough.br /2. A stand to put it on would be nice. There's nothing protecting the surface (in this case my sink counter) I put it on when it's resting. It's be nice to have a small stand to place it on since it gets hot. Definitely don't put this on a soft/cloth surface. br /br /Also, watch out when touching your hair after you've run the iron over it. Your hair will be hot! br /br /It's been about 2 months since my hair was last cut. Last night I went to a party and my friends asked me if I had just come from the salon that day! I had blown dry my hair at 10 am then used the straightener. The party was at 9 pm!
Never received product. January 2, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was charged $90.08 for this product, even though it sates in the ad its $67.00 and I still have not received it! I want my money back NOW!
Buy at your salon December 30, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The product is great. But I am only giving one star because if you purchase through Amazon.com, the lifetime warranty is void. Meaning, if your product stops working, Farouk will not replace it. br /br /I would suggest buying it from Ulta or some other store like that. It may be more expensive, but at least you have that warranty. br /br /The risk is yours.
Definitely go CHI December 29, 2008 I never thought I'd say it, but it's definitely worth the CHI iron. I have had several flat irons, and this one is by far the best. My hair is much shinier and smooth and with the heat of this iron, it get's done much more quickly. I highly recommend it.
Used the Chi for 8 months, then it broke, and it damaged my hair. December 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased a Chi from Amazon in April of 2008. Yes, it works....it is extremely hot and could probably straighten a piece of twisted, military-grade steel. Before using the Chi, my hair was very healthy and strong. It still is, but only because of all the extra products I've had to use on my hair to protect it from the Chi. Still, there are places in my hair that are dry and brittle and prone to breakage because of the Chi. And, when I would use the Chi, you could literally smell my hair burning inside it. Not nice. br /br /Eight months after using it, it shut itself off mid-use and never came back on again. So, I bought a less-expensive Hot Tools flat iron from the local salon store. This particular iron has an actual temperature control, and I can use the lowest setting and still achieve the same results, with no burning hair smell. Only time will tell if the more fragile parts of my hair will heal. br /br /The Chi will damage your hair. I doubt any serum or spray or whatever will adequately protect it. I can barely touch the outside of the unit without burning my fingers. Just be careful, and never use it more than 2-3 times a week.
