This product does exactly what it claims to. My daughter stopped sucking her thumb after one application. Highly recommend this product if you have a thumb sucker or a nail biter.

My 3.5 year old daughter had begun to have problems with her bite due to constantly sucking her thumb, so I knew we needed to do something about it. This worked miracles- she never cried or fussed about it at all. I painted her nails before putting it on, and she was excited about that since I'd never let her paint them before because I didn't think it was a good idea due to her thumb sucking. I was a little leery of the ingredients in this but figured I would just try it for a short amount of time. I think I applied it 3 or 4 times and that was a couple weeks ago and she hasn't sucked her thumb since! I know each child is different, but I am thankful that this worked for my daughter. Now I need to get my husband to use it for his nail biting!

i'm a 21 yr old male that has bitten his nails all his life, i just haev to say that this product realy worked wonders. so first of all you must have the resolve to stop. nail biting happens when triggered by something, and so you put the hand in your mouth and u start biting subconciously. so u must have the resolve to stop when you actually notice any biting. this product just reminds you that you have your fingers in your mouth, after that you must stop urself from biting.this isnt a miracle product that changes how you think and react, that is all you, this is merely a product that reminds you to change your habits. i see reviews on here saying it didnt work i just kept on biting, well that's because you expected it to change you, instead of thinking that this is a quick fix, think of it as a post-it on every 1 of your fingers. i recommend this to everyone out there that is just sick and tired of biting their nails

Our daughter (3.5 years) sucked her thumb constantly. Our dentist suggested a thumb guard, but we wanted something a little less obvious(her preschool teacher thought it would draw attention at school). We used Mavala Stop on Friday night, and in 2 days she was done. The first night was rough- she HATED the taste, but we hung in there and by the second night she remembered what would happen. After a week we stopped even applying the product because she wanted nothing to do with her thumb. The great side effect of using it was that she could not eat with her fingers at the dinner table because sometimes her thumb went in her mouth! So it helped with table manners too :)
Stops Toenail biting too! November 25, 2008
My four year old daughter was biting her toenails and as a result she had an ingrown toenail. Lots of $$ later on antibiotics I decided to give this product a try. I used it on her toenails after bathtime and that night she stopped biting her toes...that was it. No grief, no crying she just said it was disgusting and quit. I have started using it on her fingernails too and now she is free of nail biting and maybe a coincidence but she has also stopped picking her nose. My kid's three worst habits stopped in a matter of days! I am very happy. I used it on my two fingers that I tend to pick at and chew at loose cuticles and yick the stuff tastes horrid. Leaves a slimey taste in your mouth and makes you remember not to bite. Great product.
